Dining at Biwako Ryokusuitei was an absolute treat! The 24 component kaiseki dinner was not only affordable but also a feast for the senses, showcasing stunning presentations and flavors, especially that melt-in-your-mouth Omi beef! Plus, the onsen experience was heavenly with breathtaking views, making it a perfect place to unwind after indulging in those epic meals.
Now, not everything sparkled. The staff could be a bit off-putting, like that main guy who made us feel like we should avoid asking for help. Talk about fake warmth! We also found it rude when a staff member questioned our room number during breakfast—no one wants to feel unwelcome while enjoying a meal. And let’s not forget the hair left in our shower—a bit of a buzzkill.

A relaxing lakeside escape
The spacious Japanese-Style Deluxe Room with Open-Air Bath offered breathtaking views of Lake Biwa. The breakfast buffet featured a remarkable variety, including a flavorful miso soup that made mornings delightful.
While the staff were generally attentive, one encounter felt dismissive, affecting our first impression. The delay in breakfast check-in caused some confusion, slightly dampening the experience.

I really enjoyed the delicious multi-course dinner, which was a feast for the senses, and waking up to a fantastic breakfast spread every morning was a treat. The public onsen and open-air baths offered super relaxing moments after a day of exploring. Just a heads up, the dinner felt a bit quick-paced, but it was all so tasty that I didn’t mind too much! 😄

Amazing onsen experience!
Had the best time soaking in the shared onsen – it felt like our own little spa retreat! Super comfortable beds, and the staff were really helpful when we asked about how to enjoy everything. Breakfast was great, though I got confused with some options. The only issue was the slow dinner service, but the food was delicious.

Perfect for a relaxing getaway
We had oumi gyu shabu shabu for dinner and it was unbelievably tender. The onsen experience was on another level, felt like my own personal spa, with clean facilities and lovely views.
It wasn't exactly inexpensive, but honestly worth every penny.

Incredible meals featuring fresh fish, particularly the grilled options, set a high standard for dining. The setting adjacent to the lake offered stunning views, especially during sunrise, enhancing the overall ambiance. However, the private onsen needed hotter water, which was disappointing as it limited our enjoyment despite the beautiful space. The staff’s attentiveness was commendable, yet the dinner service felt a bit hurried, impacting the experience of savoring the dishes.
